Some people like it better, some hate it. I feel like it's a pretty different game. Random Scenarios are the most fun in both games ofc. I think the Planetfall Vanilla Campaigns are MUCH easier than AOW3 (which was only mediumish anyway) while its DLC are harder It is much easier to get Alliances with AI (I actually won many main campaigns and empire mode content by doing so) War Target Goals, affecting Ais opinion of other Ai, and causus belli are fun to mess around with but not really that important in the long haul.Ģ Maps for each of 6 Races, Plus a final battle Royal Map (13 total)Ģ Maps for each of 3 paid expansions, (6 total)Ħ Map Elf Campaign + 6 Human Campaign (With two more maps each for the evil path)(16 total)ģ Map Halfing Campaign + 3 Map Frostling Campaign (6 total) Revamped Diplomacy system (Remember that setting teams at map creation DISABLES diplomacy without telling you) although don't go in expecting civilization or EU. Incremental Unit upgrades from cities much more common (AoW3 does have the landmark dependent mystic city upgrades, but PF has those + about 6 you can get from civic research and planning cities to have multiple instead of "just 1" is the norm) More Map Wide Settings can be changed mid-game without having to start an entirely new Map (Classic/Simultaneous turn based mode, etc) same with unit production etc (AOW3 implemented rollover while picking up treasure site rewards but NOT from daily end of turn income)Īuto Resolve Results will be Shown and ALLOW you to restart the battle manually without having to reload. Resource Rollover is fully implemented - You aren't capped at researching 1 thing per turn if you have +800 income, you can just pick all 4 back to back at the start of your turn. Status Effect Wars - Almost every faction will have access to both debuffs and debuff removal, (Break control/dispel magic, tended to be gold experience exclusive in AoW3). "Missing" returns to the series (AoW 1-2 Defense is basically evasion) although the base accuracy is very high so it's never near frustrating imho.īig Focus on Ranged, with 5/7 hexes being the benchmarks for normal units (compare with the 3/5 hexes of AOW3) Many Melee Units can be awkward to get used to although their are some high-rolling ones. Seperate Economic Research and Military Research that progress at the same time Defined Research Tree Paths (PF) Instead of Random selection(3)
